Wow!  It is already November!  The holiday season is upon us, and the life of the church becomes increasingly busy.  This comes in many forms:  small group Bible study fellowships, family gatherings, the winding down of the first semester of the school year, church programs, etc., etc.

None of these things are inherently bad.  In fact, they are all great things, but I would like to caution you:  fail not to take time to get alone with the LORD, regularly; and do not forsake gathering together with brothers and sisters in Christ in times of gathered worship.  While we all profess the most important relationship we have is with the LORD – and this is certainly the truth – we, all too often, allow our time with Him alone (and our time in gathered worship) to be neglected and forsaken as we get busy with walking in the blessings with which He has blessed us!

Many times during the month of November, people are more consciously willing to “thank God” for the blessings they have received.  You’ll see social media posts; you’ll hear the words of gratitude in conversation.  While we certain ought not to take for granted the blessings by His hand, we (even more so) ought not to neglect the One who blesses us!  He has welcomed you into an intimate fellowship.  He is who sustains your life.  It is Him we need more than anything or anyone else.  Make sure to spend time, alone, with the LORD in prayer and in His Word.  As you do, you will be more keenly aware of the blessings you have received by His hand – and more apt to live with a genuinely thankful heart before Him!

In addition, Holy God has designed us to need one another.  A huge part of His plan for your spiritual growth is the local church.  Do not forsake the opportunities we have to gather in His Great Name to worship Him and edify one another.  You spirit needs such.  We all – far too quick to forget – need the regular rhythm of gathered worship as reminders of His greatness and His love for us.

As we continue into November, I want to challenge you to prove your commitment with your pocketbook.  I know...I know...No one likes the pastor to speak about money, but God has blessed you with resources to steward for His glory through the life of the church.  We can do far more together than we can apart.  Seek the LORD concerning your giving.  Remember:  we are not to give to Foxworth First; we aren’t to give to projects.  We are to give to the LORD through the life of the church.  Faithfully walk in obedience to Him, and see Him bless and multiply our efforts.

Lastly, that most important relationship you have (with the LORD) is worth talking about.  We speak about what and who we love.  It comes naturally to us.  Make a commitment to grow in your love for Jesus & exhibit that by opening your mouth to others concerning our King!  Just tell folks what Jesus has done for you, and watch how the LORD blesses these efforts.

May the LORD bless & lead us as we seek Him.

Friendly.  Faithful.  Focused.  For the Glory of the LORD!

Pastor loves you!

And I’m honored to serve HIM alongside you.
